How the formulas work

Percent of the goal raised

F3=IF(B2>0,F2/B2,0)

Money collected divided by the campaign goal, formatted as a percentage. The sample has raised $6,620 of $10,000, or 66%. Count only money you have in hand here; pledges are tracked separately because some never arrive. The IF returns 0 instead of #DIV/0! while the goal cell is empty.

Are we on pace for the deadline?

F4=MIN(1,MAX(0,(B5-B3)/(B4-B3)))

Days since the start divided by the length of the campaign gives the share of time used. MAX and MIN keep it between 0% and 100% before the start and after the end. F5 compares the two: if you have raised a bigger share of the money than you have used of the time, you are On pace. On November 2 the sample is 53% through the time and 66% of the way to the money.

Money still needed per day

F6=IF(B4-B5>0,ROUND(MAX(0,B2-F2)/(B4-B5),2),MAX(0,B2-F2))

What is left to raise, divided by the days left until the end date. MAX(0,...) stops the figure going negative once you pass the goal. After the end date there are no days left, so it simply shows the shortfall. A daily target is easier to rally a team around than a lump sum.

Per-participant status

H9=IF(D9=0,"Not started",IF(E9>=C9,"Goal reached",IF(F9>0,"Follow up pledges","Keep going")))

Nobody pledged yet is Not started. Anyone whose collected money meets their personal goal is Goal reached. Someone with pledges not yet collected (column F) gets Follow up pledges, which is usually the fastest money in a campaign. Everyone else is Keep going.

Team totals and the leading team

C33=INDEX(A28:A31,MATCH(MAX(C28:C31),C28:C31,0))

Each team row uses SUMIF to add collected money for that team and COUNTIF to count members. MAX finds the highest team total, MATCH finds which row it is in, and INDEX returns the team name. Teams of different sizes are fairer to compare on the Avg per member column.

FAQ

How do I calculate the percentage of a fundraising goal in Excel?

Divide the amount raised by the goal, for example =F2/B2, and format the cell as a percentage. Wrap it in IF(B2>0,...,0) so an empty goal does not show #DIV/0!.

Should pledges count toward the goal?

Most groups report money collected as the headline number and track pledges separately, because some pledges are never paid. This template does both and shows the collection rate (collected divided by pledged).

How do I see how much we need to raise per day?

Subtract what you have collected from the goal and divide by the days left: =(goal-collected)/(end_date-report_date). Dates in Excel are numbers, so subtracting them gives days.
